Introduction
FlyFlyPewPew is a top down vertical scrolling flight based shooter. Like many of the older scrolling based games it puts enemies, both moving and stationary, into the players path and they must destroy or evade them as they approach. Every level leads to a final boss battle at which point the scrolling is halted to allow the player to focus on the immediate threat. It is written using J2ME and runs with MIDP 1.0.
Gameplay
The overall goal of the game is to attain as many points as possible. Points are scored for killing enemies including the final bosses. Different enemies are worth different points and as the player progresses through the game the values will vary depending on the difficulty of the enemy. The game is broken down into 3 stages each consisting of a main level and final boss battle. These stages are played consecutively and after the final stage has been completed it restarts with an increased difficulty level. The player has both a health bar and lives, the health bar decreases as the player takes damage and if it is fully depleted they will lose a life and be respawned. Once all lives are lost the game ends.
Controls
To navigate through the game the player must use the left and right keys for lateral movement and the up and down keys if they need to move vertically on the screen. All movements are limited in the area that can be covered and once and area has passed beyond the scrolling edge it can not be revisited. To fire the planes alternating guns the primary button on the control area must be used.
