About Me
Hi, my name is Brian Doyle, also known as 'JoyOfJoys' or 'I Can't Find Sock So I Videogame' and I am a 4th year student currently completing my computer science course in DIT (DT228) with a focus in the Games stream for my final year. I am an avid gamer and strongly support the games industry. My ultimate goal is to be able to contribute in the creation of games especially during this time as the medium makes it's way further into the mainstream and becomes a more central part of everybody's day-to-day life.
Final Year Project
My Final year project will be to create a Pong game that is controlled using non-verbal vocal input. It will involve taking into consideration games design, Sound input and HCI with a focus on creating a Unique method of play centred around a universally accessible design.
4th year
Games Middleware
The aim of this assignment was to create a physics based engine using DirectX and ODE. I've always had an interest in trebuchets ever since playing Age Of Empires 2, so I decided to make one.
Graphics
We were asked to create a room that was navigable and included elements that were animated and reacted to user mouse click. Not one to be happy with something typical I decided to create an altar-like setting that would be at home in a fantasy roleplay game.
3rd Year
Elementiods
There was a lot more to this game that I had thought up that was never possible to be implemented within the time frame of the assignment, such as range-accuracy bonus, competitive, cooperative, team based and free-for-all modes. It was created using Microsoft XNA.
Pong
This was my first shot at programming using XNA, it's a simple pong game, not much to else to it.
Plays Videogame for amuse.
